In Japanese, the word "ashi" means foot and "atsu" means pressure. In Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy®, this "foot pressure" translates to "the deepest, most luxurious massage on the planet"!
Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy® (AOBT) has roots in far east countries such as India, Japan, and Thailand; however, it is very much a western adaptation of the fine art of barefoot massage.
Angie offers this specialized "Ashi" massage at Santosha, and she is certified in the technique. She trained closely with Ashiatsu founder Ruthie Piper Hardee in learning this unique style of massage, which uses the feet to provide deep compression and gliding strokes resulting in a deep, relaxing experience. Bars on the ceiling of the treatment room are used by the therapist for balance and support. The result is a wonderful, blissful massage that is effective in relieving deep muscle tension.
Benefits include improved posture and movement while relieving pain, improving bodily functions, and creating a state of well being.
Please note that AOBT is not recommended for individuals with the following conditions:
Pregnant or trying to get pregnant
Breast implants within nine months
Recent eye procedures
Uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart conditions
